‘Punggok Rindukan Bulan’ Movie Screening Sessions

March 25th – April 4th 2014 (Close on Monday)
@ Run Amok Gallery

In conjunction with our artist in residence programme, we will be organizing movie screening sessions from 25th of March to 4th April. A feature film made by our artist in residence Azharr Rudin and produced by Da Huang Pictures in 2008, which was on theatrical release in GSC international screens (88 min version).

This modest but astonishing film is proof that the promise of Azharr’s The Amber Sexalogy was indeed justified. I also cannot think of any other Malaysian film that so evocatively captures this sense of liminality, which for me finds true home in frontier towns like JB. This young filmmaker needs to be congratulated for giving this city a starring role.

Benjamin Mckay, Off The Edge

‘Punggok Rindukan Bulan’ is film about a boy, barely in secondary school, Sidi and his father Adman, who both unknowingly cope with the sudden absence of a key female figure in their life. In a probable separate story, a boyish young woman returns to photograph the backdrop of her past. Set in the border town of Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The literal meaning of the title is a Malay saying like “the owl misses the moon” a reflection of unrequited (and unconsummated) longing.

Movie screening starts from 25th March to 4th April (except on Monday)
sessions are 12pm, 2pm, 4pm & 6pm. lease book your session via info@runamok.my by stating your name, contact number, preferred date and session. These movie screening is meant for 1 viewer at one time and the length of the movie is 122 min.
