Artists in Residence Open Call 2015

Deadline: 31st December 2014
Duration: 12th April – 24th May 2015 (6 weeks)
Eligibility: Malaysian visual artists who graduated no more than 4 years.
On offer: accommodation, studio space with access to basic woodwork tools,
stipend of RM1200 each artist, WIFI.
Capacity: 2 artists.

Each artist in residence will be given a studio space where you could write proposals, fabricate work, conduct field trip or research. Programmes such as informal meeting with other artists and visit to artists studio within Penang will be arranged. On the 5th week, a project discussion session with other visual artists and cultural practitioners will be organised.

This residency programme does not require the artists to produce an exhibition, however the artists are encouraged to engage the public by sharing his artistic findings during his/her stay, and it is up to the artists’ discretion whether it should take form of an exhibition, workshop, open studio, sharing session, performance etc; this should happen on the last week of the residency.

The application should include:
a) one-page proposal of the residency (objectives, methodology and exposure mode).
b) portfolio + documentation or work (eg. 25 images, if work is in video format please provide link to video work)
c) artist CV: one page.

* The total file size should not exceed 25mb.

Selection process is made by 5 panelists (list to be announced on https://www.facebook.com/runamok.my). Selected artists will be informed via email about the decision by end of January 2015.
